Greetings, all!

My last post was 2 weeks ago, and I definitely do not like that at all… but sometimes life gets in the way of one’s hobbies. Between being a single mom, working full-time, being a girlfriend, a friend, and all the other titles and obligations intertwined therein… sometimes my favored blog hobby is unfortunately neglected. Sorry!

About blogging… particularly when the blog’s focal point is fashion…

All of the looks that I pull together, in reflection of my personal style, require a lot, but not in the way you’d think… Not only do I take a bit of time to get [somewhat] dolled up, I’m talking hair styled, make up and nails done, but I also work with a couple of photographers (mainly Chris or Brittany)– whose schedules may not always align flawlessly with mine; and then finally, I also need to figure out what to do with my daughter while I go out for a shoot. As much fun as it is to create works of outfit art through fashion and style, there is indeed a lot of effort behind it… but I have fun, and when the time is there, it’s worth it.

Speaking of fun…

What’s going on in your world??? Mine has been the typical go, go, go! Lot’s of day trips like taking Alena to see The Little Mermaid at the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre in Chicago; and date nights, like seeing Rob Thomas play at Ravinia with Kai.

I cannot believe the end of July is closing in. My July will end with a trip to Annapolis, MD– starting tomorrow! After work, the boyfriend and I will be heading to the airport to fly out there for the weekend. Kai lived in Annapolis, for several years, before returning back to the Chicago area. (Which I’m glad he did, otherwise we likely wouldn’t have met!) So he’s taking me there for a long weekend to check out a city that he loves.

Be sure to follow my Instagram, as I will post daily photos of our trip.

That’s all for now!

  1. I imagine that it would take a lot to get a post together when you have all those things to align together. I find it difficult enough to write a coherent post weekly with everything I have going on… I couldn’t imagine working other people into it too.

Have fun on your trip ♡

  2. I think I remember reading that a lot of fashion bloggers photograph all their outfits for the week in one day — it’s a tough job that’s for sure. I can’t believe July is almost over too, feels like it just started! Enjoy your trip :)

  3. Sounds like your life is hectic! Kudos to you for still maintaining a blog and keeping everything together! The challenges with blog pictures are so much more than just an outfit! Love this romper on you and keep up all the lovely posts!

  4. Life happens! As much as I love your blog updates, its probably good that you have made your family, friends and boyfriend a priority. I think that says volumes about who you are as a person more than anything else. Gorgeous photo, Amber. Can’t wait to see how the trip goes.

Amber you look cute and sexy in that pic. Yeah I feel you girl, life often gets in the way of blogging, hahaha. Who said, fashion blogging is fun? most of the time it’s hard work, hahaha. Nah just kidding although it’s a lot of work, that’s for sure. At my end life is also getting in the way, lol, I am renovating the house, all I wanted was some new seating, a new bed and some rugs, somehow it has turned into a mega project by now, lol.

  7. I can so relate to you it definitely takes a lot to create a good post specially when you have to take care of so many things. I have to take both my kids when I go to take pictures as my hubby takes my pictures so most of the time I end up taking them in front of my apartment only.

  9. Amazing pic. Love your cute romper. Glad you had a lot of fun this week. I wish I could post more often too.
We would be happy to have you on our blog Amber. I really love guest posts. You can send your pics (the big sizes) and a few words to our email address :D Happy Saturday!

  10. I am similar in the way that my blog unfortunately falls to the wayside when things get crazy for me too. But the memories we make in real life always top sitting behind a computer screen anyway. Glad you’ve been enjoying yourself, and glad to see a new post up too! Head to toe this look is just perfection! <3
    Enjoy your weekend!

  11. I’m really impressed that you nevertheless are able despite your challenging life and your mass on tasks to take such breathtaking pictures and create such super stylish looks like you are usually doing – and this is also valid for this look <3 Keep up the good work and hopefully you are proud on your impressing achievements.

  12. Wow you and I have a lot in common. I’m a single mother too and all that struggle, I can relate. You’re sure doing a great job, Amber. Kudos to you!! :)
Lately I’ve just been working, trying to stay fit and live each day as it comes. Hoping for the best every day by the grace of God.

  13. I perfectly understand your go go go situation. In fact , I have downsized my blog schedule too. I’m currently without photographer, she took a 6 weeks break, so I can totally relate. My daughter has been down with stomach bug and my car has dropped down dead. I need some rest :-) thank you for sharing your life. Beyond your gorgeousness there must be a beautiful soul too! Baci,

  14. Mermaid, you are beautiful! I completely understand the challenge to blog often. With my schedule I most often am only able to do this 4x per month, trying very hard to AMP it up. :)

  15. I totally get where you’re coming from, sometimes I don’t post for a month, but I’m wearing a lot of hats too! Awesome post.

  16. Hope you find more time for blogging soon as you have a great sense of style! :)

I only manage to fit it in as I take a pic with a tripod and a remote before I go out each day, takes 5 minutes max, and then I can blog later in baby’s nap times :) I can’t imagine how you find time for photoshoots!

  17. I know what you mean about blogging being so great when there’s time to do it! I took off 4 months recently and it’s been so wonderful to get back in the swing of things when there’s time! Love this look and these photographs! So classic!

  18. Yes, rather life is on, so it is difficult to blog, nice your going to have a nice time with your love in Chicago. I can see the passion you have for fashion, for the dressing up and photo shoot, nice.

  19. Couldn’t agree with you more – blogging is literally a full time job/hobby. I love it and it makes me happy but you def. need to set time aside for it.

You’re doing a great job considering everything you already have going on! #killinIt

  20. Sometimes, real life has a way of coming in and changes things, so don’t feel sorry at all. After all, this is your space and I’d gladly wait for amazingly curated content then run of the mil stuff. Blogging takes a lot, but it definitely makes me happy as I see it makes you.

  21. Blogging can definitely be hard work, but if you are doing something that you love then it is 100% worth it! I love fashion blogging so much, so I really enjoy all of those things. But it definitely isn’t easy :) You look beautiful!

  22. I completely know what you mean! Outfit posts are my absolute favorite to post, but they take so much more work than people realize! There’s getting dressed, taking the pictures, editing, and then finally actually writing the post. The hardest part for me is getting the pictures actually taken.
